Bafana Bafana assemble for camp ahead of friendlies against Eswatini and Ivory Coast
10 October 2023 – The South African senior men’s team assembled for camp at the University of Pretoria’s High Performance Center (HPC) on Monday, but it wasn’t a full house as many players were still absent.
Egypt-based Percy Tau was a notable absentee and Coach Hugo Broos explained his absence from the team that is preparing to play international friendly matches against Eswatini at FNB Stadium on Friday (13 October 2023), and Cote d’Ivoire away from home on 17 October 2023 .
“Percy Tau has been released from camp due to family reasons and Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Mdantsane takes his place in camp. So far all assessments have been completed and this is the only change that we have made to the squad thus far to play Eswatini and Cote d’Ivoire. Ronwen Williams has a small ankle niggle as well”, said Broos.
Most of the players have reported for duty with only Bongokuhle Hlongwane and Mihlali Mayambela due to arrive in camp, on Tuesday.
Bafana Bafana partners 10bet South Africa, the global online sportsbook and games operator, offered their support to Broos’ as they prepare to face the two teams in the coming days.
“10bet extends its heartfelt support to the team as they gear up for their upcoming matches against Eswatini and Cote d’Ivoire. We have full confidence in their abilities to deliver thrilling performances, inspiring the nation. Rest assured, we stand firmly behind them every step of the way. We urge South Africans to unite behind the boys as they prepare for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations,” said Nick Moyo, the Sponsorship Manager at 10bet South Africa.
