Betting on a winning event as the tournament welcomes title sponsor on board, 10bet.
Now in its third year, the popular Women’s Diski Challenge has received its biggest boost yet with confirmation that leading betting company 10bet has agreed to become the tournament’s headline sponsor.
10bet will thus be aligned with one of Gauteng sport’s most important rural initiatives, which is designed to help women overcome traditional barriers to entry: inadequate sport facilities and infrastructure, poverty, and unemployment.
The Women’s Diski Challenge uses football to build on what sparse foundations exist, chiefly to help female footballers with greater competition and a first-class experience that recognises their talent and determination.
This year’s event takes place at the University of Johannesburg’s Soweto campus on March 26. It will be played in a knockout format that will culminate in a late-afternoon final.
The tournament is the brainchild of Bonolo Mokoatle, a dynamic 30-year-old from Matatiele in the Eastern Cape. Equipped with an array of qualifications, including a coaching certificate and diploma in sport management, perhaps her greatest attribute is her resolve to recognise and reward the talent that abounds in rural areas.
‘’The lack of opportunities at the development level for talent identification drove me to start this programme,’’ she explained from Johannesburg, where she now lives. ‘’The youth in townships who would play street football day in, and day out made me realise the immense talent we have in South Africa. Wanting to preach the importance of education and football also pushed me in wanting to do this while encouraging sisterhood on and off the field.’’
It is this vision that aligns with 10bet’s commitment to support initiatives that uplift communities through various sporting codes.
10bet, a global online sportsbook and gaming platform with 20 years of experience offers passionate bettors and online game lovers over 2000 betting markets, more than 25 000 live events per month and a pool of over 300 exciting games.
‘’Here at 10bet, we are passionate about sports, and even more passionate about making a long-lasting impact in our communities. This International Women’s Month, we are excited to support the Women’s Diski Challenge as it aims to achieve equal opportunities and empowerment for females through soccer.” said Michelle Colborne, Chief Revenue Officer, 10bet Africa.
